Lakehub has continued to support and speed the growth of tech community in western Kenya by providing opportunities, resources and space for the past three years. We are keen in partnering with communities and organizations in the ecosystem that will help catalyze growth around technology, innovation and entrepreneurship around western Kenya. With the aim of decentralizing access to technology, growing entrepreneurship and social innovation.
Over the past three years, LakeHub has been focusing on building a community of young social innovators, technologist and entrepreneurs in western Kenya. For that reason we partnered with the Google Developers Group to host the 4th annual developers Festival Western Kenya on the 26th November 2016.
DevFest Western Kenya broke it’s own previous record for being the biggest tech event in the western part of Kenya, with about 400 people in attendance, and 15 speakers from Kenya and beyond. This year a variety of sessions were covered from keynote speeches to breakout sessions on android, progressive web apps and machine learning.
The goal for this conference was to develop expertise on technology solutions in Africa, foster experience sharing and promote networking.
LakeHub has created an open and supportive space where young and talented developers, creatives, entrepreneur and social innovators in Western Kenya meet to network, learn from each other, brainstorm and find solutions to societal challenges.
