The Lake Hub Incubation program is designed to support and empower early-stage businesses led by young people with emphasis on women-led business.
This innovative program provides a comprehensive range of support, guidance, and resources to help these entrepreneurs turn their ideas into successful ventures.
Lake Hub works in collaboration with various organizations from different sectors including development, public, and private commercial sectors to bridge the gap between youth unemployment and underutilization.
To achieve this, Lake Hub runs several programs and initiatives that are focused on providing training, mentorship, and job placement opportunities to the youth.
LakeHub and GIZ have joined forces under the "Agri-Jobs 4 Youth" initiative to implement the LakeHub Incubation and Acceleration program. This program aims to support the development of 120 young agripreneurs (aged 18-35) across five selected counties in Western Kenya: Siaya, Kakamega, Vihiga, Bungoma, and Kisumu.
The program will provide agripreneurs with the necessary skills and capacity building to establish self-sustaining businesses within selected value chains. The ultimate goal is to improve food security, drive local economic development, and create new employment opportunities for youth in Western Kenya.
The "The Woman Founders Award" is a transformative program aimed at promoting economic empowerment for women entrepreneurs in rural East Africa. The annual award is designed to support women with innovative business ideas and improve the business environment for women-led ventures in rural areas through access to finance, market linkages, and challenging gender norms and stereotypes.
Our organization has formed a strategic partnership with the Leila Janah Foundation to provide women-led enterprises with the resources they need to explore local and national business expansion opportunities. The goal is to empower these women with the knowledge and skills they need to scale their businesses and become investment-ready.

Our organization, in collaboration with Maseno University and Vrije Universiteit Amsterdam, is proud to present the "Engendering Mentorship" (e-GEM) project. This initiative aims to establish a mentorship program at Maseno University that will provide support to female students facing various challenges, including early marriage, pregnancy, and gender-based violence. These challenges have contributed to high dropout rates among female students at the university.
The program is designed to create a supportive and enabling organizational environment, with the goal of reducing dropout rates and empowering female students to pursue careers in technology, innovation, design, and business. We believe that through the e-GEM project, students will become more confident in themselves and their abilities, leading to a brighter future for all.
